Hi everyone!!!!
I hope you guys are all doing well =) The weather here has been quite interesting…it was pretty hot this week, close to 90 degrees out then today it started out hot then randomly dropped down to 60 degrees in a short period of time and got foggy. It was really weird….but anyhow we just had another event this past Saturday with 6 orphanages at a local park in the city. We were expecting 12 orphanages, at least 300 kids but half of them never showed up =(
Well the event went really well! It was supposed to end at 4pm but we ended earlier b/c we didn’t have as many kids. Leading up to the event my job was to put together all the boxes for each game station, and I also put together 3 big baskets of prizes for the winners of the painting contest we had. For the event we had all of our full time and part time staff help out as well as some volunteers from the university that’s nearby my house. Two of our board directors came from the states as well to help out with the event along with another volunteer. I was in charge of setting up and helping each orphanage paint a mural, and they all turned out great. The director of cultural arts and events for Ensenada was at our event and she took the murals to be on display in one of the museums =)
Aside from that I’m still working on re-organizing our back bodega (shed) and the patio area. I will DEFINITELY take pictures of that and share them later hahahahaha~ So as of now we don’t have any other events coming up until February so things are starting to slow down. We will have a Christmas “store” around xmas time for the orphanage directors to come and pick out gifts for their own kids b/c they get looked over so often…..but the prepping for that won’t take long.
My parents also came on Saturday to come visit me! It was really good to see them again and spend time with them. They left Sunday evening and I ended up going with them to San Diego to spend some more time with them there. Some of the staff members here were going to be in the states so I just asked them to drive me back home on Monday. I was able to walk around the city and harbor area and I bought a lot of food and other items that I couldn’t find here in Mexico so that was nice =)
Well I have an update with a prayer request, my friend Stephanie was staffing with me this past summer and she just decided to commit a year here at Genesis starting late January! I’m so glad that she’s going to be staying here with me, we’re going to be sharing a room together and we’ll be doing all the projects and other things together as well. I’m really happy that I’m going to have a roommate! We get along really well so I’m finally going to have some good accountability. Over the summer she was really good with initiating prayer time together with the other girls so I’m looking forward to that as well. She’s younger than I am, she’ll be graduating in January so she’ll be coming down as soon as she’s done with college. So thank you guys for all your prayers, this is definitely an answer to my prayer request =)
So some other prayer requests I have are….
#1. Consistently take time to pray and do bible study. Things are slowing down here so I definitely have the time to pray and do bible study but I’m just not making an effort to go through with it. Please pray for me!
#2. Honor and glorify God with whatever I’m doing. It’s easy to see the work I’m doing as just “work” instead of serving him so I really want to have the right heart about it.
#3. That me and Steph would grow all the more closer and encourage one another. Also I want to be able to work out any differences that we have in a loving matter. I have no doubt that we’ll have problems and issues come up, but I want to handle them maturely.I miss you and love you all! Email me please!
