Eunice February Update

Hey friends! It’s me again =)

Do you guys miss me at all?? Sometimes I wonder if yall read my super long emails. I hope you guys dooooo~

Anyways just to give you guys a quick update….my friend Stephanie arrived last saturday so she’s been here for about 9 days now. It’s been really great having her here with me =) I finally have a friend and we’ve slowly begun meeting other ppl here in Ensenada. Please keep her in your prayers while she adjusts to life here in Mexico.

We had a small event this past Saturday with 20 migrant kids who live in an area called Durango, it’s nearby the church we used for our Kings Day event which is somewhat nearby our ranch. We’re helping 5 students at a small bible college called Tres Cruces with their community service hours and our main goal with the Durango community is to build good relationships with them to get them familiar with Genesis and our events and different activities. So we took the 5 students with us to the event and they helped us out with games, getting lunch prepared and crafts. We’re going to have 5 Saturday’s with these students doing different activities with a group of niños. Next week we’re taking a different set of niños to Jersey Park and they’re going for a walk along the wetland area. After next weekend the students need to plan their own activity for the kids and plan a day trip for them as well. So Saturday was just to give them an idea on what they can do with the kids. The students are between 16-24 years old and me and Stephanie got along with them really well. We even hung out yesterday, we ate lunch together with them and went to go watch a movie too. It was fun!

As for upcoming events, next weekend is the trip to Jersey Park and the walk and the following weekend is the Gala! I thought I would be helping with the prepping for that but it ends up that I won’t be helping much with that. Me and Steph had a meeting with Amanda the other missionary here and she gave us a list of responsibilities for the next two months. It’s going to be quite busy from here on out….I think this week is our only relaxed week b/c we’re just taking the kids to the park this weekend there’s no planning needed for that….only food preps. The last saturday of this month we have a group coming down for the weekend to work on a construction project. It’s actually Stephanie’s church that’s coming, they’re a wonderful group and they’ve even offered to bring me food and other items that I need. Very nice of them =) Oh also another thing me and Stephanie are going to be doing every Friday is picking up Costco donations. Someone set us up with the costco donations so every week we go and pick up a cart load of food that Costco can’t sell anymore b/c the sell by date is almost up or overdue. So we basically drive there and pick up the food and we have to keep track of what we received and some food we keep and some we give away to the orphanages nearby our office and a bag of food also goes to our three disabled children under our care.

Anyways, Genesis has a baby on the way! Hapa is a missionary with us and he and Lupita married in Sept and she’s now pregnant with his first baby…due in Sept I believe. Please keep them in your prayers too! As for other news we still don’t have anything new yet on the land, they discovered something when they pulled out the papers to get every under way so it seems like it’s going to take a bit longer than we expected. That’s fine though, we just have to be patient and continue praying about it.

Me and Amanda took some time to visit some families this past week to give them food dispenses and to invite the kids to come to the event we had on Saturday. The economy here has been REALLY bad, especially for the migrants because they aren’t given any work in the fields. But each family we visited invited us in and gave us the LAST BIT of their food and water. One family had just finished explaining that they ran out of food and water for the rest of the week but they wanted to give us the bag of squash they had left to eat for that night. We had just given them a dispense that would be good for about two weeks and they were extremely grateful but still to just see their hearts and for them to be so incredibly giving through their struggles really broke me. I’ve been a little stressed out with my financial situation here but seeing these families who live in houses with dirt floors, no beds….basically bare minimum everything yet they’re incredibly happy and they’re still so giving with the little that they have……that truly convicted me and made me realize I worry about little silly things and I also saw how selfish I am.

Anyways this is getting long again so here are my prayer requests….
1. Please pray for my eyeballs. They’ve been abnormally sore recently and they keep tearing up so it’s been bothering me a lot.
2. I need to spend more time PRAYING! PRAY THAT I PRAY MORE!
3. I need to wake up earlier hehehehehe I’ve been getting 9.5 hours of sleep each night even though I don’t need to. I’m going to start waking up at 7 instead of 8ish with Steph’s help =)
4. The Gala – that all will go well
5. Our disabled children Margarita, Manuel and Omar…..especially Margarita and Manuel b/c their conditions have worsened =(

That is all yall, miss you guys, please write back to me I love receiving emails…I get seriously depressed when no one emails me so please write back!

Sincerely,

Eunice Lee
